About RankCause

Search is being rebuilt. We're building the instrument panel for it.

Every meaningful change in how the world finds information happens once a generation. We're living through one now.

A decade ago, the market needed a tool that told you where you ranked in Google. The category got crowded — dashboards, keyword counters, link graphs, position trackers. They all answered the same question, in roughly the same way, for the same surface.

Then the surface moved. Perplexity, ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Google's AI Overview — billions of queries are now answered by language models that cite the web, not link to it. The search bar is being replaced by an answer box. And the dashboards built for the old world simply aren't equipped to see the new one.

RankCause is the intelligence platform built for the search engines of the next decade. Not the rankings of last quarter. Not the keywords of last year. The signals, citations, and AI answers that decide who gets seen tomorrow.

"If you can't see which edit moved which ranking on which date — across Google, ChatGPT, Perplexity, and the engines we haven't named yet — you're flying blind."
— Why we built RankCause

The thesis

We started with a simple, unfashionable belief: SEO is becoming a measurement problem before it becomes anything else. The teams that win the next decade aren't the ones who write the most content or build the most links. They're the ones who can see clearly — across surfaces, across engines, across time — and act on what they see, faster.

Every other tool in the category is optimised for a world where Google was the only judge and rankings were the only currency. We built RankCause for a world where there are five judges, three currencies, and a new engine every quarter.

What RankCause actually does

RankCause is a single platform that watches your visibility across every meaningful surface — classic Google rankings, AI Overviews, ChatGPT's answers, Perplexity's citations, Gemini's grounding, and the long tail of AI engines coming next — and tells you, with causal precision, what moved and why.

We don't ship dashboards that say "organic traffic is down 12%". We ship answers that say "on the 14th, you removed schema from your top three product pages, and over the next nine days ChatGPT stopped citing you for twelve queries that drove 38% of your AI-attributed revenue." That's the difference. That's the entire product.

01

Causal, not correlational

Most analytics tells you what happened. RankCause tells you what caused what. Every ranking shift, every citation gain, every traffic delta is tied to the specific edit, link, schema change, or competitor move that triggered it.

02

Engine-agnostic by default

Search isn't one engine anymore. RankCause watches Google, the AI Overview, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude, and Copilot in one unified timeline. When you migrate, the data migrates with you.

03

Honest about what it doesn't know

If a metric isn't measurable yet, we say so. If a forecast lacks the data to be reliable, we surface the uncertainty. We've never met a marketer who liked being lied to by their tools, even with confidence.

Who builds it

RankCause is built by a small team of operators who've spent the last decade running organic growth at companies whose names you'd recognise — and who got tired of duct-taping seven tools together to answer one question. We're search engineers, ML researchers, ex-Googlers, and ex-founders who've been on every side of this category.

We use RankCause every day for our own work. The features ship when they survive our daily use, not when a roadmap says they should. We don't have a sales team. We don't run paid ads. The product earns its growth or it doesn't grow.

Where we're going

The next ten years of search will be defined by how well we measure what models do — not just what humans click. We're building RankCause to be that measurement layer: open, honest, fast, and ahead of the curve on every engine that matters.

We're not chasing the SEO market as it exists. We're building for the search-intelligence market as it's becoming. If that resonates with how you're thinking about your own work, we'd love to show you what we've built.

Some specifics, since you asked

RankCause is operated by a remote team across five timezones. We are independently funded, profitable on the customer base we have today, and obsessive about not raising money we don't need. Our infrastructure is self-hosted on dedicated bare-metal in two regions, with full encryption at rest, SOC 2 controls in progress, and a public uptime page at /status. Every customer's data is tenant-isolated at the database row level, audited continuously.

We are also genuinely lovely to work with. You can reach a real engineer at hello@prism.app — usually within a few hours, sometimes within a few minutes.
